White Noise is a multimedia installation with large-scale photography, sculpture, and sound that addresses the buzz that surrounds us, sometimes soothing, sometimes jarring, and always present. In it, I challenge the viewer to discover what is underneath. Are there moments of beauty and peace, or is there nothing but distraction and confusion? The exhibition is designed with layers of sound, engaging at first, but becoming irritating and overwhelming, and sculpture and photography intended as places of rest for the viewer. In contrast to the tranquil effects of white noise, these image fashion an expanded definition that posits that constant noise or sound can have a deleterious effect on a population and may be used to that end.
