May 21, 2008 A year ago memorial day weekend, i packed up my stuff and moved back to DC from new orleans. it's hard to believe a year has passed so quickly. it has been great. i certainly appreciate all the good things that have happened so far. before i
leave, i wanted to point out an exhibition that opens on thursday,
may 29. it's called "Through the Lens of D.C. Youth"
and is organized by a nonprofit called Critical
Exposure. go to their site and make a contribution. they
help students and organizations advocate more effectively
for excellence and equity in public education—by putting
cameras in the hands of kids who document their school days.
it's an effective tool that allows policymakers and legislators
to see the current condition of public schools. the invitation
to the opening is here. May 19, 2008 Today's view: Today's studio: also, if you haven't seen it before, a reminder that my monday postings are part of my friend melia's project 52. the goal being to upload something new every monday of the year. we're already at week 20. hard to believe. it's a great project because it encourages the five of us participating to be productive, nonjudgemental, and motivated. melia is showing some work for the very first time at this year's artomatic. it was a big leap for her and she's done a great job.
